Our Aims & Objectives
"to promote an interest in canals and boats in general, and provide
inexpensive moorings in order to encourage future growth and development of the
Sheffield and South Yorkshire Navigation" - Extract from the
Constitution of the Rotherham & Sheffield Canal Association

Brief History
Originally established in 1978, the Sheffield Canal Association moved to
Ickles Lock in 1996 becoming the Rotherham & Sheffield Canal Association a
few years later.
The Association is comprised of likeminded individuals, working together to
keep boating affordable and enjoy the pleasures of the canals with a strong
community spirit.
Any and all revenue received by the Association is used to
further our aims and objectives.
We currently occupy approximately 550ft (170m) of secure online
moorings, complete with hard standing for car parking. When we moved to
our new site, we managed to establish a range of fuels (coal, gas
and diesel) for our members, as well as basic sanitary facilities. In time
we hope to establish phone lines, electricity, a full toilet and shower
block, and eventually a clubhouse.
With these facilities we will be able to reach out to other canal users
and expand our membership and activities to include non-boaters who enjoy
fishing, cycling, running or simply strolling along our beautiful
waterways.
