Phone Project To Get "Go Ahead"

Following several months of deliberation, investigation and negotiation, RaSCA is on the verge of getting telephone lines installed on site.

BT have been very interested right from the start in our requests to bring landlines to our premises. The lines will be distributed along the length of the moorings as necessary to enable our members to get shore hook up and save on costly mobile phone bills when they spend the weekend on their boats.

One line will also be run into the Associations porta-cabin which is to be turned into the site office. This will make things significantly better for everyone. Historically the committee have stood to the ever increasing telephone charges on their own phones when co-ordinating Association activities. Now the Association will pick up its own costs.

The site office is also to be furnished with an answering machine so that people contacting us at the site can leave their queries and contact details at all times of the day and be confident that someone will pick up their request and deal with it as soon as possible

The only delay that is liable to be arise is getting final clearance from British Waterways Estates Department, but we are reasonably confident that this should be through within the next few weeks.
